it's honestly frustrating that such a clear and obviously useful feature that people stumble over every days is not implemented after three years have passed since this recommendation
-
again, why is this not already solved after THREE years?
this is so basic
It makes a significant difference to workflows
the workaround is to create and maintain proxy fields simply to do the sorting, that's so bad -

can you please explain in detail how to actually do this?Using your explanation I don't understand how I can do a

This should be a thing. Tasks are seldom simply Done or Not Done. The checkbox should reflect that. Makes it a lot less usable.
Especially since a workaround with Status Icons is not really feasible because you can only put them at the end of the node via ${name} ${Status.Icon} to preserve editability of the name.

It's frankly insane that this is not possible
I want to get an emoji icon in front of every of my task objects, depending on the status
The idea that I can only define the name of a task once and then it's forever locked just because I want to put an icon in front via ${Status.Icon} ${name} is insanity
this should obviously be possible

- Improve Panels
Certainly is weird to not be able to grab a panel at its header bar and simply drag it into some corner or to some edge of the screen and have it arrange like it works in vscode for example.

- Default-expanded nodes
I currently solve this using custom gestures via BetterTouchTool:
2 Finger Swip right = Expand all
2 Finger Swip left = Collapse allThat way I set the cursor into the node I want to expand, swipe right and can view everything, once I'm done, I swipe left and close it up again. Easy, quick, instant, no thinking, no friction (in my view).
If this helps you, consider upvoting this issue, which would speed up the above workflow even more: https://ideas.tana.inc/posts/452-collapsing-of-collapsed-node-should-collapse-parent-node
