Dynamic Saved Layouts

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

Using the "Save Layout" command on the Today node always returns you to that day, as opposed to today

Why is this a problem for you?

When I open Tana, it's showing me yesterday's information (e.g., yesterday's day node and a live search from yesterday's day node in a side panel)

I want to quickly switch to the latest information, in my today day node

Suggest a solution

Allow for saved layouts to dynamically open today's day node and related live searches within the day supertag for today

Ability to select default date field in live search within #day supertag

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

  • my #day supertag includes a live search node to all nodes tagged #todo
  • The live search node is a single day, calendar view to schedule #todo's more granularly
  • Some nodes with other tags, like #recur, have more than one date field
  • When more than one date field is filled out, the node appears twice in the calendar
  • I can remove this in the specific day's live search node by toggling which date field(s) to display, but if I try to set the default at the supertag level, I can't, because no nodes are found in the supertag's search, so no date fields are selectable in the Display options

Why is this a problem for you?

It leads to confusion and repetitive date field selections (every day). Also uncertainty of which date field is associated with which duplicate node, and accidentally editing the wrong one

Suggest a solution

For live searches in a supertag that don't have results, allow the user to make display option selections based on what those results would be

Make command button location consistent to remove unused space

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

Currently, if I add a command button to a supertag it appears for all nodes with that supertag, however, the location where it appears varies wildly (see screenshot below):

image.png

Why is this a problem for you?

I want to simplify my view when working, and sometimes make every node, like a todo list, show up on only 1 line, but the buttons wrap or oddly space themselves so that's not possible

Suggest a solution

  1. Ideal: User setting for button alignment to specify freeform (current state), or aligned to end of tags, or other options
  2. Pretty good: auto-align to end of tags
  3. ??: Open to better ideas :)
