Treat email-type fields as mailto tags

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

HTML supports a "mailto" tag in the form

mailto: someone@example.com

So that when the mailto link is clicked, the local computer's default email application opens with a draft email whose "TO" field is the email address from the mailto link.

Tana does not recognize mailto tags.

Why is this a problem for you?

QOL and convenience

Suggest a solution

Treat email-type fields as clickable mailto fields by default.

User-configurable Base Types

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

297.2.0 introduces an advanced feature to assign a "base type" to supertags. The list of available base types is configured by Tana, and is not configurable or extendable by users.

Why is this a problem for you?

Though Tana provides a robust initial set of base types, I would like to have base types that fit my own use cases.

Suggest a solution

Introduce a "Setting" or some other method to add base types to the list. This would be name for the type, and a short label describing the use case for the type. I don't think we need to remove or change the built-in types.

Easily adjustable banner height and width

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I can adjust the banner height and width with CSS, but I would appreciate something more straightforward.

(It's irony that we can generate banner images easily with a 16x9 ratio, always, but we cannot tell Tana how much or which part of that image is the banner.)

Why is this a problem for you?

Quality of life

Suggest a solution

Like a command accessible from the contextual menu on banners. The command could pop up a small dialog to set height and width. Pixels I suppose. I'm open to other options.

Or perhaps we could grab the banner image and slew it up and down.

Search for highlights

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

From 8 November Tana has had a toolbar that enabled highlighting text with a colored highlight.

Why is this a problem for you?

Not a problem, really. Just an expanded capability.

Suggest a solution

Now that we can use this new feature, it would be helpful to be able to have a Search capability to search for these highlights.

Move "Commands" out of the "Advanced" section of supertag configuration

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

Small QOL improvement. Since commands are very commonly used in supertag configuration, having to scroll to the bottom of the supertag config dialog, open "Advanced" just to access the "Commands" field is extra clicking around.

Why is this a problem for you?

Don't like to exceed my daily clicking budget !! Ha ha.

Suggest a solution

Move the "Commands" dialog to the main part of the supertag config dialog.

Voice recording transcription seems to eliminate the recording

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

If I drag a voice recording .mp4 file into a Tana node, and then chose "transcribe" to have the AI transcribe the recording, the recording itself shows "0:00" length and nothing plays. The recording is transcribed, but that process seems to eliminate (or hide) the recording from playback.

Voice Transcription Bug.png

Why is this a problem for you?

Need both the recording and the transcription in Tana

Suggest a solution

Keep the recording and do not eliminate it once transcribed.

Standard built-in search nodes

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

As workspaces grow, the number of supertags, fields, attachments grow. We need a simple way to keep track of these as well as simple way to see how many assets exist in the workspace.

Why is this a problem for you?

Creating some basic searches is time not well spent

Suggest a solution

A set of standard, built-in search nodes that could be added to a workspace. For example:

  • all fields in the workspace
  • all active (assigned) supertags
  • all attachments (images, files, etc.)

Could be an option under workspace settings to add some or all of these canned searches. Of course we could configure to our own taste once added.
