Clean copy-paste from Slack (when a message uses intendations/bullets)

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

The paste from Slack is not clean.

Why is this a problem for you?

I often copy-paste content from Slack to Tana to restructure, combine, and work with the content. However, the time it takes to just reorder and reindent outlines after copy-pasting is annoying.

Suggest a solution

A clean copy paste (don't know how).

Quick select the main tag OR drag and drop to switch supertag order

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

The "main supertag" determines which fields to use in Build Title from Fields.

In a recent situation, I had a node with 3 different supertags. I added a fourth tag that I wanted to be the main one. I needed to remove and re-add the three tags in order to achieve the wanted effect.

Why is this a problem for you?

In my case, I have 100s of nodes that I need to apply this change to, which takes time.

Suggest a solution

Quick select the main tag OR drag and drop to switch supertag order

Explain the problem as you see it

Save two clicks and a lot of mouse moving.

Why is this a problem for you?

Quality of Life

I remember Roam doing this quite well.

Extended supertags inherit build title from fields

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I have #task, which has "DL" in its field, and task titles are built as "${name} | ${DL}". I have different categories of tasks each with a supertag extended from #task. I'd like to have the extensions inherit the title construction.

Why is this a problem for you?

It just takes a lot of time to go through 8 tags and change the title structure whenever I want to prototype some change in how my tasks are presented. E.g. if I add ${priority} to the title.

Suggest a solution

Add a toggle to make extensions inherit the title construction.

Drag and drop ordering of sort

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I have 3 criteria when sorting a list. I'd like to add a fourth as the most important criteria. Now I need to first remove the 3, then add the 4th, and the readd the 3.

Why is this a problem for you?

Takes a lot of time.

Suggest a solution

A drag and drop ordering of sort criteria

Click to open node in a new window

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

This morning, I had two nodes opened side by side: my today node and a weekly tasks node. I wanted to open a third node in full screen mode for writing. However, to do that, I lose my today+weekly layout and can't quickly access it anymore.

Why is this a problem for you?

It just slows things down.

Suggest a solution

The easy solution is to allow a "click to open in a new window" feature. This way, I can keep my original node layout as well as visit the new node in full screen.

Sort by name that isn't sensitive to capitalization

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

Sorting e.g. tables by name, is capital sensitive. I don't see any use case, where capitalization should matter. Could there at least be an option?

Why is this a problem for you?

Instead of looking through one list, I need to look through two lists (capitalized and non-capitalized)

Suggest a solution

Making sorting by name capital insensitive.

Focus mode

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I often have two conflicting goals: First, I want to focus on just one page/node and close/minimize everything else. But second, I want to keep multiple other nodes closeby. Toggling between these two modes of difficult.

Why is this a problem for you?

It's a focus/time/effort issue.

Suggest a solution

I'd like a focus mode toggle for individual pages, where the focus mode on would use all screen space for that one doe, and focus mode off would return to the previous layout.

Ability to undo supertag removals

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I have many search nodes for supertags - especially for tasks. Sometimes I accidentally remove the supertag, which removes the node from the search node. Because undo doesn't work, I need to remember which node it was to re-tag it - otherwise, it's lost "forever" in the graph.

Why is this a problem for you?

I forget some of my tasks.

Suggest a solution

Ability to use undo for supertag additions and removals.

Taxonomy: A "network graph" of supertags, and how they connect via extensions and field instances

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I want to debug my taxonomy a bit, but it would help to have an overview available. With so many tags and field constellations connected via extensions and instances, keeping up with the structure isn't easy.

Why is this a problem for you?

Well, taxonomy is everything.

Suggest a solution

A network graph - a visual description of the connections. (note! I'm not recommending a network graph of nodes - just supertags and how they connect via extensions or field instances)

Closing the left-most panel/dock

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I often have three panels (docks?) open side by side, and I often also want to close the leftmost one. However, this is not possible. This is probably because Tana assumes that the other panels are for deep dives and I'm mainly working off the leftmost main panel. This is usually not the case.

Why is this a problem for you?

To close the leftmost panel, I actually need to full-screen the middle panel, then navigate to the rightmost panel again and open it up in a new panel. This is very cumbersome.

Suggest a solution

Options
1) Closing the leftmost panel makes the middle panel the main one.
2) Tana doesn't make a difference between "main panels" and docks but treats all panels equally.
