User-to-User Chats or Threads

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

Tana seems to have all the elements needed to be a perfect productivity app for teams - except for linear thread-based communication.

Why is this a problem for you?

Needing to have a separate app for team-communication, when Tana does basically everything else, is annoying. Tana is so close to being the 'Everything OS' for teams!

Suggest a solution

Allow users to create threads similar to AI Chats, that allow other users to add 'messages'. Show the sender's avatar next to their message, and disallow editing from other users.

These are a type of node like AI Chat nodes, that can be referenced and tagged, but belong to specific users, and to a specific thread.

It would also be cool if you could start threads from messages within a thread, to get sort of a branching, exploratory thing happening.

Change username

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I believe your username is currently taken from your Google or Apple account. However, you might prefer a different username for Tana.

Why is this a problem for you?

This is mostly an issue in shared workspaces, where you interact with other people.

Suggest a solution

Make users be able to change their username.

Sliding Panes (Stacked tabs)

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

Before I switched to Tana a year (!) ago, I was a heavy Obsidian user. One thing I loved about Obsidian was its "Sliding Panes" or "Stacked tabs" layout, which allowed you to sort of "travel" through your notes in a super intuitive way.

Now, Tana's panels are nice and good, but I still miss the sliding panes! And I'm sure others do too.

Why is this a problem for you?

Tana's current viewport panels can be a little finicky and awkward.

Suggest a solution

A way to open nodes in fixed-width stacked and scrollable panes similar to this Obsidian plugin.

Sort contextual content references

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

I really enjoy using contextual nodes to leave comments about my projects and tasks, etc, highlighting what I accomplished each day. However, in the contextual references of the project, for example, the references are seemingly randomly sorted, making them less useful as a way to get an overview of work done by day.

Why is this a problem for you?

In this context the usefulness of the node references are dependent on them being sorted in the order they were created.

Suggest a solution

This is part of a larger wish to be able to sort normal references as well, but I just noticed it with the contextual content references specifically. The node references are basically live queries, so also being able to sort them would be fantastic.

Scrollable filter dropdowns

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

Currently you are unable to scroll inside the filter dropdowns in the view options. You can scroll the page to see more of the options, but if you have a lot of values it gets cut off at the bottom.

The filter dropdowns I'm talking about

Why is this a problem for you?

There are some values I'm unable to filter by because I can't click on them.

Suggest a solution

Have a max height of the view filter dropdowns and have them be scrollable.
