Here is some additional information about the Chinese version of Evernote. It supports adding screenshots, either full-screen or partial screenshots, which are the first two options on the second line at the top. It also supports recording audio and video, but I haven't used those features.
You can freely record notes in this window. When you feel that you have recorded enough or want to start a new content, you can click "Save to Evernote" at the bottom to generate a new note in Evernote.
Additionally, even if the desktop version of Evernote is not open, it will automatically start up with your computer.
I would love it to integrate into reminders - look how [Structured]] does it. This way I can talk to my Apple Watch and it will put the reminder in my inbox. Also Integration with the calendar the same way - except it would put them on the day they are booked for.
Urgh - external links open within the app (rather than in a browser) - and then have to Right-click - Back to get back to Tana.
Installed on PC Win 11 Pro Insider Preview - looks good. One thing- I've been using Tana as a web app - the icon was much larger than the icon for the desktop version. It looks way too small to me (see image)
Can the size be increased on the desktop version?
Another killer feature the desktop app would be the ability to deeplink to specific nodes and have them open in the desktop app.
Hey, have been using the app for two days now, and it seems the app itself is quite resource intensive. I was checking the activity monitor in mac, after my m1 mac heated up uncharacteristically; tana handlers was showed to use a shit ton of cpu usage. Please look into optimisation of the same.
"Use system theme" (to auto-switch between light/dark mode), which works fine on the Chrome/Brave/web app, doesn't work on the Desktop app (macOS Sonoma)
Quick Add (cmd+E) as a global feature
Given that audio recording is a global feature, could we also have the quick add box as a global feature - would be super useful to reduce context switching.
Thank you! Love the desktop app so far!
Small issue/idea:
I really need multiple windows. I regularly have content from multiple places in Tana open in different browser windows. Multi-panel in a single window is not sufficient. I can place these windows on different screens, where I can refer to Tana content with different apps placed next to the Tana window.
This is more than a little annoying. Using app is not "quick" when it hides the rest of the world.
I very much appreciate not having to log in Tana in my browser several times a day. That was an irritating barrier to entry. My pattern of use is to look into Tana only occasionally.
The app version of Tana is better looking - it's bigger on my screen and easier to see.
Spell correction can be turned off for Tana Desktop - By pressing the "Alt" key to display Menu > Options, uncheck "Toggle spellchecker" Then press Ctrl + R to Reload!
It would be great to be able to open an additional window again (windows desktop app). When the app was tied to chrome it was quite handy, as there was often a need to open 2-3 windows, each with several panels. For me, it made it much easier to work on several projects at once in parallel.
The "build tana from fields" tag setting does not recognize fields where formatting is used. That is, if italics are used in the field name, you won't be able to use it for a mention in the title. It's a minor detail, but I think it would just be easier to structure the field system in some situations if it could be fixed.
Just a while ago I came across the fact that the number of pinned nodes is limited. When the side panel is full, at the bottom it says "1/2/3.. more item". Before I ran into this, I thought I could just scroll the sidebar, like in notion. Over time, when it becomes necessary to keep more nodes on hand, this limitation can greatly complicate everything.
I hope you find my thoughts useful
I usually log into the (browser version) Tana with my personal email but when I downloaded the desktop app it seems I can only log in via an Apple or Gmail address is that right?
I use Gmail for this community site, but I want to keep using my personal email for tana app.
Can we use our normal Tana sign-in email for the desktop version, I can only see Apple or Gmail?
If we like to extend the use beyond IT people, having an offline version would be a great enabler! (I am traveling a lot and wifi is not always available/stable which limits the use significantly)
Grey box at the bottom of the app appears sometimes after scrolling too quickly. No way to remove other than to reset application. Known bug but would be good to have it fixed.
Absolutely needed! Deep linking is a game changer, and working great in the web app. MUST HAVE in the app!
A Mac OS Share extension for the Desktop App would be really valuable, enabling me to clip resources from all over the OS directly into my inbox or daily note. The most valuable place to support this first would be the Safari share button.
Similarly, Shortcut support would also be valuable.
This is a GREAT idea
