Countdowns Using Dates and Times
Explain the problem as you see it
The issue is that:
Sometimes (or for some people, such as myself) it is easier to discern the gravity or implications of the time remaining between
event A and event B (or)
Today and Task C's due date
when there is an active countdown of time displayed in front of you. From a more positive perspective, perhaps you have an event, such as a concert, or your calendar, that you are particularly excited about. What if you could link a countdown to it on your home page? That'd be a nice, pick-me-up to see in between performing your more serious tasks.
Why is this a problem for you?
As mentioned above, I am the kind of person that benefits from seeing a countdown for upcoming due dates, events, and more. How I allocate my time an energy can be impacted significantly by my perception of the amount of remaining time between the present and the date that something is due.
I use Tana for my professional work in IT, my personal work in content creation, and for continuing my at-home education (or armchair-education, as I like to to call it) in this time between finishing undergrad and applying the graduate school. Two of those three require me to use a lot of calendar management and be aware of impending due dates, so it would be great to be able to have countdowns as a field to be added to supertags, and as something that could be displayed on the calendar view (all views, really) and home page.
Suggest a solution
I'm unaware of the code under the hood of Tana, but perhaps the start date and end date could be used, with some basic math, to calculate the days, hours, minutes, and seconds between two dates or times, and a countdown of some style placed on your node to represent it. The countdown could be a basic numeric one, or you could get fancy with it and offer choices like an animated clock with moving hands as well.
Anyway, thanks to Matt McKinlay for suggesting I post this here and providing the link. Additionally, thank you to to you, whomever you are, for reading this. Have a wonderful day and thanks for much for the fantastic app!
