Explain the problem as you see it
Currently, if we drag and drop a PDF - it allows us to expand the node to see the PDF. We can't do the same for a MS Word doc. One baby step would be to allow us to see the MS Word doc without the ability to edit it. Ultimately it would be ideal to edit it within Tana - but just seeing it without downloading it would be a huge step.
Why is this a problem for you?
I usually just want to reference the document- check a fact, something like that. I don't need to edit it - just view it. But I have to download it, open it in MS Word, then delete the downloaded file later. All just to view it.

Nice idea Dee, clear value. A lot more to come with how we work with files in Tana, file types will be considered as part of that work.
Taking this one step further, I would love to see viewers launch for all MS documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as PDFs (official Acrobat viewer) and be able to edit and save them if necessary. I would be a lot more productive if I didn't have to download, edit, and upload. I'm swamped by these document formats related to my projects each week, and it is very difficult to remain organized. If you could also link a note back to a source e-mail in Outlook, that would be amazing! Both items would be huge time-savers in my workflow.
Perhaps a roadmap item beyond this would be to summarize important points from these documents back into a Tana node to further enrich the workspace. Similar to the way we extract transcriptions from YouTube videos back into the workspace and work with them there. This shouldn't be too difficult for current AI models. Just something to think about.
