Chart views and Dashboards

Explain the problem as you see it

Currently, Tana allows viewing data in table format, but there are no built-in chart options to visualize the data. This limits the ability to quickly analyze or compare data trends, making it difficult to efficiently gain insights or identify patterns within the data.

For instance, I recently needed to compare multiple data points from my project in a visual format to identify patterns, but I was unable to do so within Tana.

I have also wanted to create charts to visualize my spending patterns over various time periods, and compare my spending across various areas/categories.

Why is this a problem for you?

I currently rely on third-party tools to create charts, which takes extra time and disrupts my workflow. Although I am able to take screenshots of charts I create outside of Tan, I’m still forced to leave the platform, and I sacrifice live updates to the graph when making changes to the data. This makes it harder to share insights with collaborators and diminishing the overall efficiency.

Suggest a solution

Introducing native chart views such as bar charts, pie charts, and line charts would greatly enhance data visualization within Tana. Notion currently does this effectively by allowing users to create various types of charts and even combine them into dashboards from multiple data sets. By integrating similar charting options directly into Tana, users could more efficiently display data, perform comparisons, and share visual insights without leaving the platform. This would streamline the user experience and reduce the need for external tools.

Yes great ideas. Being able to view the same data in different ways is a fundamental strength of Tana. Expanding view types always on radar with a lot of internal exploration/prototypes, but no plans in current chapter for any releases.
