Explain the problem as you see it
In nodes where there are (potentially multiple) aliases, I tend to forget what those link back to. Currently, the only way to check what the alias is for is to click through to the link itself.
Why is this a problem for you?
Every time I'm doing this, I move away from the context, or have to spend some time to open it in a new panel to see what it is, which disrupts my current panels. Ideally, if we stay within the same focused panels while seeing what these references are, we can continue on with our workflow while keeping track of what we're writing under.
Suggest a solution
Have a hover preview either by mouse hover, or by select.
For the mouseful, we can use our mouse to hover over something to see a preview of all the contents under a node including its aliases.
For the mouseless, we can move our typing cursor to where the alias is, and have a keyboard shortcut to either open it in a smaller preview window.
A semi-alternative would be to see the alias contents pop up in the references on a focused node but that would mean changing focus just for one function, so still a bit slower.

I don't use aliases, so not sure if it's the same request, but I'd also love to see linked node contents in a hover preview!
Seconded
