Pressing enter on empty node unindents

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

In most outliner apps and apps for organizing hierarchical lists, pressing enter on a fresh empty node causes that note to unindent to the parent level, which is very fast and intuitive.

Why is this a problem for you?

Going against years of habit
Adding unnecessary extra steps when organizing lists with the keyboard

Suggest a solution

Introduce a mode or setting that causes Tana behave more like traditional outliners, note apps or list managers.

Collapsible Columns in Card View

Actions

Explain the problem as you see it

When you have a card view with multiple columns that contain many cards, organizing cards can become difficult or tedious for different reasons:

1) Visual clutter: If you have 4-5 or more columns that all contain a good number of cards, it becomes difficult to parse.

2) Rendering can slow down significantly.

Why is this a problem for you?

It makes it more difficult to see signal from noise - makes it more difficult to focus.

ADHD: Seeing something I didn't need to see easily distracts me from the organizational task that is already difficult for my brain. Having options to hide the unnecessary from my brain is how I choose my tools - outliners are amazing for that and Tana takes it even further. It is one of the reasons why I like to spend time categorizing my information and reminders.

Suggest a solution

Make it so you can collapse a column - It is still there and functions as a drop target, but the cards stay hidden until you expand the column.
